Poverty
Poverty is a condition or state that describes a lack of financial means to either meet one’s basic needs or attain a quality of life much beyond basic needs. We can define poverty as the condition where the basic needs of a family, like food, shelter, clothing, and education are not fulfilled. It can lead to other problems like poor literacy, unemployment, malnutrition, etc. A poor person is not able to get education due to lack of money and therefore remains unemployed. The two ways poverty can be measured are as absolute poverty or relative poverty. Absolute poverty has specific fiscal outlines. Relative poverty, on the other hand, is established in relation to the economic climate in which one resides.
Poverty is looked through social indicators like:
- Illiteracy level.
- Lack of general resistance due to malnutrition.
- Lack of access to health care.
- Lack of opportunities.
- Lack of access to safe drinking water.
- Lack of access to safe sanitation facilities
Below are eight effective solutions to poverty:
- Educate children.
- Provide clean water.
- Ensure basic health care.
- Empower a girl or woman.
- Improve childhood nutrition.
- Support environmental programs.
- Reach children in conflict.
